Come Live With Me is a very easy movie to see. It has the light charm, sophistication and enough magic to be an experience that makes the audience walk out of the theater, feeling good. I think this is the movie in which Hedy Lamarr is closest to being herself and Jimmy Stewart closest to being himself in real life. If I had a chance to ever meet them, I would not have expected anyone rather than Johnny Jones and Bill Smith. Jimmy is wonderful as always and Hedy' face with her soft expressions and watery eyes will break your hearts. Though was not made for oscar or any other special recognitions, this fairy-tale like love story of these two beautifully cute people will remain one of the purest moments in your life.

Johanna Janns 'Johnny' (Hedy Lamarr) is a lovely Viennese refugee living in and enjoying her curent life in America and having an affair with a married American man, publisher Barton Kendrick. He wants to divorce his wife to marry her. And she wants to marry him too but is afraid to hurt others for their own happiness. Johnny is about to be deported back to Austria unless she can marry an American man in a week. Unfortunately, barton cannot divorce his wife in a week to marry her and keep her in America. Hopeless, Johnny goes out for a walk, thinking about her life when she meets Bill Smith (Jimmy Stewart), an unsuccessful writer who has no failth in his career anymore after so many rejections.Learning that Bill has no wife and no money, Johnny is happy to ask him to marry her in trade for some monthly money used to play his living costs and writing materials. He agrees to bargain.
Bill later realizes he's in love with Johnny yet has no right to know where she lives and who she really is. Bill starts writing a novel based on his experience with Johnny and sends it to kendrick. Barton's wife likes the story so much that she makes him buy it with five hundred dollars. While Johnny has determined to divorce Bill and marry Barton, Bill has planned a trip with her to his gandma's house in the countryside. She refuses to go but later has to agree since else he will grant her no divorce. But as the day passes, Johnny realizes she loves Bill.
When Barton comes to Bill's house to get Johnny, Bill has a lousy talk with him and is angry to find out Johnny is his girlfriend. He bursts back to his room. He notices Barton car goes away and thinks he has taken Johnny with him. He sits down, calling himself a "sucker" when she climbs up the wall, flashes the light and decides to stay with him.
